Patron Saint of ambulance drivers, bakers, mariners, paramedics, police officers, soldiers and battles.

The Archangel Michael saved heaven by vanquishing the devil who was intruding while disguised as a dragon. He fought the devil when war broke out in heaven. Michael defeated the beast and the angels siding with it, so he was given the right to judge souls seeking entry into heaven. He is considered the protector of Israel in the Old Testament “always interceding for the human race”.

A devout Servant of God, Antonia d’Astonac, had a vision of St. Michael. He told Antonia to honour him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honour would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and the assistance of all holy angels during one’s life.

The Feast Day of St. Michael is September 29, and is shared with the Archangels St. Gabriel and St. Raphael.
