Felted Wool Designs Of All Kinds

Wool is Awesome

The more I work with wool, sculpting my hand-knit and crocheted designs, the more ideas come to me. There are so many beautiful colours and textures—the possibilities are endless. My woolen pieces go through a multistep process, whereby I either knit or crochet a design, subject it to a technique of wet and/or needle felting and then lastly, adding beads.

I began making necklaces as a way to learn about wool; its behaviour and its abilities, as a way to make my prayer bead designs. What emerged were unique and pretty pieces of wearable fibre artwork. Brooches then came along, embellished with glass beads. Oh so many brooches!

Woolen roses or blossoms dangling at the end of a rosary or chaplet add something unexpected to prayer beads offering a unique tactile experience.

Hand needle-felted round woolen beads look great as a differing texture when paired with glass beads. Varying sizes and colours are a delightful way to enhance much of my designs.

Small sized knit and felted purses too, for coins, prayer beads or whatever. I add feel good sentiments such as Hope, Joy, Love, Peace, carrying deeper meaning than just their contents. Sometimes a simple reminder can give you focus. I also use these words in small framed wool paintings too.

My woolen path carries on……

I welcome custom orders.
